What is Getting Over It?

Getting Over It takes on the role of a cat attempting to scale a mountain while holding a hammer in this unusual arcade game. The colorful universe of your trip is full of enormous blocks and fruits. This game is a hilarious take on the well-known original version featuring Bennett Foddy, replacing the man in a pot with a playful cat.

Game Rules

Climbing as high as you can is your main goal. You will use only your hammer to go past various barriers. The objective is to become an expert climber in this difficult environment where each step counts toward your advancement.

The character's hammer, which can attach itself to things, is controlled by the mouse or touchpad. To choose the location where the hammer head will strike, move the mouse around. The man's vase can move about with ease, which can help or, more often, get in the way of the user's gaming. There is not much of a straight line at the bottom of the ship; with proper calculation, the pot can be placed on the goods.

Giant fruits and vibrant blocks abound on your adventure; each block presents a unique obstacle. Ascending further will bring you across several kinds of platforms. Some are more difficult to balance than others, while some are steady and give you time to think through your next move. It's similar to a puzzle in which you must determine how to utilize your hammer to advance.

Everything is tied to your hammer. It will allow you to swing across gaps, propel yourself up, and hook onto objects. The way you move is dependent on how you swing and stretch the hammer. You can rise a little higher with a tiny swing, but occasionally you'll need a massive swing to clear a bigger obstacle. It's critical to comprehend how varying swings affect your motion.

You could occasionally trip and fall, taking you back to the earlier stages of the game. Although this can be demoralizing, it also presents an opportunity to try another strategy. You will gain more knowledge on how to overcome barriers more skillfully with each fall and subsequent rise. You learn something new about handling problems on every aspect.

To progress, players must study each item's curve, which includes doghouses, ladders, rakes, and other items, from a different perspective. This theme tackles the idea that people are so adept at materialism that they overlook works of art rather than realizing how much work went into making them. The journey is more important in this game than the final destination.

Players must strategically aim the hammer at the right spots with the cursor to go past obstacles. The player runs the risk of falling back to the starting place if the tool misses the target or the cauldron falls downhill. The player is once again experiencing the terrain in this way.

Features

  • Get up a massive mountain using just a pot and hammer.
  • As I make some philosophical reflections about the matter at hand, pay attention.
  • It can take anywhere from two to infinite hours of excruciating gameplay. For my testers, the average time to completion was five hours, but it was actually closer to ∞.
  • Lose everything you've accomplished, repeatedly.
  • Experience frustrations of a kind you never imagined possible.
  • Climbers who reach the summit will be rewarded with magical items.
